Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp become parents

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz, "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, reveals the truth of her motherhood as a result of her friendship with Jonny Depp, co-star in the same movie. She became pregnant while playing a pirate. She broke down in tears when describing about her motherhood "It transforms you completely, in a second." The name of her child is Leo.

In an interview with Vogue magazine, the Spanish beauty tells about reuniting with her former “Blow” (in 2001) co-star, earning a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Cruz gushed about working Depp, after the two have stayed friends for years and passed a good time all around. She says "He plays jokes on everyone. He has a fart machine with a remote control. He puts it in your chair and then he goes ten meters away and with the remote, presses the button so anyone who is sitting next to you is going to think it's you. It's a big adventure, to be around him."

"He's very unique. His values and ethics as a human being -- he has a very big heart but at the same time, there's this wild part of him," says Cruz. "Johnny is proof that you can be as talented as him and still be such a gentleman. That's the difference between someone like him and a lot of other people. He doesn't betray himself. That's the thing with Johnny. You can't buy him. You can't trick him. He has respect for himself, for life."
Depp also returned the favor, calling the star “magnificent” and “magical.” “She’s the dysfunctional Bacall to my twisted Bogart. She’s the otherworldly Scarlett to my clueless Rhett. She’s the … Well, she’s Ricky to my Lucy.”

Cruz is also passionate about cats (she had many pet cats when she first moved to Hollywood and she took them as close friends in English speaking environment as she knew little English then), karaoke and working with children. Cruz says the birth of her son has made her even more interested in working with children’s charities as well.

She says to Vogue, “From the first second, you feel so much love. It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wives and gives u nine months to prepare, but in that moment – when you see that face, you are transformed forever.” She also believes “Even if you are aware of children and felt compassion, when you have your own, it multiples, It breaks your heart to know that there are so many children in the world suffering so much.”
